As technology moves on, science also progresses by its side. Scientist are building up new knowledge throughout genetic engineering providing solutions to environmental contamination. Now a day the scientists are applying the GMO (Genetic Modified Organisms) into plants and animals; in study purposes animals, causing a change in their DNA to produce a positive outcome. This genetic engineering often helps to identify problems in the environment in a visual representation.
Glowfish
Scientists had applied this method on fish in order to observe the contamination inside them. In this case modified organisms causes the fish to glow in the dark; in other cases, glowing fish are found in the ocean and scientists examinee their DNA in command to figure out what external indicator may be seen in relation to their DNA components. On 2003 a Zebra fish was found, who carry a GMO that provide the fish to glow in ultraviolet light. The actual Zebra fish has the silver and black flesh. Scientists examine the fish and obtained a result that the GMO comes from jellyfish. The fish acquire a bright red color stripe under normal light; meanwhile it turns fluorescent under ultraviolet light. As mention before, the modified fish was initially bred to aid identify environmental impurities. The fish was inserted a natural fluorescence gene with the purpose of making the fish glow when rivers commenced to contaminate. |
